Nice Try, Meryl Streep!

The  73rd Golden Globes Awards ceremony was held last Sunday night. Sunday is a great day for receiving attention for acting honorably. Appropriately the highlight of the evening, while totally unexpected, was viewed by millions. And hopefully it was given some serious attention.

Meryl Streep, was accepting her lifetime achievement award, when she changed the topic and addressed the exceptionally poor manners and total lack of sensitivity of the man who will soon sit in America’s oval office. She referred to the sad manner in which Donald Trump ridiculed Serge Kovaleski, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist with physical disabilities.

“But there was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good; there was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh, and show their teeth. It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back.”

Serge Kovaleski and the mockery.
“It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out of my head, because it wasn’t in a movie. It was real life. And this instinct to humiliate, when it’s modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody’s life, because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence. And when the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose.”

Donald Trump

Meryl Streep was born on a Wednesday in the zodiac sign of Cancer. Her INNER SELF is ruled by Mercury and the Moon governs her OUTER SELF. Individuals with the #40 Dayology Signature are unusually sensitive, sometimes regarding their own self-image, but more often about how others happen to be feeling. They can be very protective.

Donald Trump was born on a Friday in the zodiac sign of Gemini. His INNER SELF is ruled by Venus and Mercury governs his OUTER SELF. Those with the #63 Dayology Signature are talented communicators. Deep down they really want their messages or creations to be appreciated and are hurt deeply when they feel misunderstood.

While it would never occur to Donald Trump to take advice from anyone who was not assisting his efforts to “get ahead” financially or politically, Meryl Streep did point out the areas where he was weak as a human. Her #40 Dayology Signature has the innate capacity to see into the depths of the energy arrangement of his #63 Dayology Signature. The connection is Mercury, the planet of reason and insight. In this particular interaction it rules her INNER SELF and his OUTER SELF. This “Cross-Over” of energies between INNER to OUTER realms occurs in relationships where one person can hep another in a particularly strong manner, but only if the assist is welcomed.

UPDATE – Of course Donald Trump replied back to Streep’s remarks at the award ceremony. “Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me, but attacked me last night at the Golden Globes. She is a Hillary flunky who lost big.” A short time later Meryl Streep appeared at the annual Shakespeare in the Park gathering in Central Park. She dressed herself as Donald Trump and purposefully made “fun” of his bad behaviors.

Meryl Streep was the perfect person to address Donald Trump. Not so long ago he thought the world of her. He described her acting ability as exceptional, but not anymore. Her signature energies, Mercury and the Moon, contribute greatly to her skill as an actor and a good judge of character. Trump uses his Mercury to communicate and misrepresent. Mercury is clearly a tricky operator as well as a revealer of deceits. Not all of us has Mercury as a Signature Ruler, but we all have a Mercury in our Natal Chart and it is up to each of us to use this influence well.

Donald Trump is not the only one who is good at mockery.

Donald Trump is not the only one
good at ridicule. This portrayal of a
sloppy political figure was impressive.
Meryl Streep‘s performance included
a duet with Christine Baranski who
was outfitted as Trump’s presidential
opponent, Hilary Clinton. Meryl
receives our recognition for showing
Trump how it feels to be mocked,
but she won’t be receiving any
awards for this particular role.
