The New Face of Nike

Is Colin Kaepernick ‘s latest corporate representation a good move? Yes, probably so, for everyone. Nike’s online Sales soared this week after Colin Kaepernick announced that he had joined the Just Do It – Dream Crazy Campaign. The You-Tube ad premiered on Tuesday and by Friday night it had been viewed by nearly 14 million times.

Like a super shot of adrenaline this public service announcement features individuals overcoming all sorts of prejudice and disability to achieve absolute excellence. The tagline  is “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything” and narrated by Kaepernick, who clearly believes we don’t have to be like anybody to be somebody.

The Dream Crazy message works well with Kaepernick’s identity. He is of mixed racial heritage, was born to a single mother and placed for adoption. He was taken in by a couple with two older children. With love and protection he was given a solid middle-class upbringing. Kapernick exhibited talent for athletics early on and excelled in high school sports. He was drafted in the 43rd round by the Chicago Cubs, but chose the University of Nevada where he could play football. As a graduate he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft. After the 2016 season he opted out of his contract to become a free agent.

Eric Reid joins Colin Kaepernick in taking a knee.

Kaepernick is recognized for “taking a knee” during the National Anthem at the beginning of his sports events. Fellow player Eric Reid was second to demonstrate by taking a knee before each game. Together they silently protested the systemic oppression of people of color in America. They are being called politically disrespectful for involving the U.S. Flag and National Anthem in his demonstrations. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and most of the NFL team owners became disturbed as Kaepernick and Reid are being joined in protest by other conscious athletes.

Eric Reid

Colin Kaepernick was born on a Tuesday in the zodiac sign of Scorpio. Mars is both his Day Ray and Sun Sign. This doubled planetary ruler is so forceful that it has led him to become both the successful professional athlete and the dedicated crusader that we know him to be.

Eric Reid was born on Tuesday in the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. Mars is his Day Ray and and Jupiter governs his Sun Sign. While Mars impels him to be active, Jupiter gives him the gift of an expansive, social nature. It would be difficult for him to ignore the injustices around him.

Both of these athletes were born on Tuesday and have Mars as their Day Ray. This energy is good for overall energy levels and therefore great for sports performance. It also heightens sense awareness and short term self-expression, making it easier for these two individuals to notice and discuss the problems they encounter. This is a natural gift given for their protection.

UPDATE: Commissioner Roger Goodell officially apologizes for preventing NFL players from peacefully demonstrating against racial discrimination. By the way he did not mention the poor treatment that Colin Kaepernick received as reported on . More.
