This week The Washington Post ran an opinion piece by Jonathan Capehart. The feature presented Capehart’s four top choices of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Joe Biden, for his running mate in the upcoming election. Having served as vice-president to President Barack Obama, Biden completely understands the dual importance of this secondary position out on the campaign trail and inside the White House.
Candidate Biden has already stated that his choice will be female to balance the ticket. Just a few days ago, Amy Klobuchar one of the leading contenders, bowed out and urged Biden to pick a woman of color as his running mate. “I think this is the moment to put a woman of color on the ticket.” she announced on MSNBC’s Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, “If you want to heal this nation right now — my party, yes, but our nation.” — this is sure a hell of a way to do it.”
The announcement of a presidential running mate may be announced at the Democratic convention this August. Biden understands that if elected he would be the oldest sitting president in U.S. history. The wisdom is that he needs a partner who can slide into the presidency in case of his untimely demise or run for the office in the following election on their own.
Jonathan Capeheart’s picks include Georgia House of Representative, Stacey Abrams; U.S. Representative, Val Demmings; California Senator, Kamala Harris; and a previous U.S. National Security Advisor, Susan Rice. Others possibilities are Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, and New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. All of these women are competent . It’s their dynamic with Biden that is at issue.

The two prospective candidates born on Sunday may be too strong to partner with Biden. They would have to hold back as vice president, but they could be powerful presidential candidates later on. The three born on Mars-ruled Tuesday would be ready to work with Biden’s Mars ruled Scorpio. The two gals born in the zodiac sign of Libra bring a sense of balance to a relationship with Biden. Both could smooth off the rough edges of Biden’s temperament. That’s our outlook!

Despite the brief but heated encounter in the 6/27/2019 televised debate, Biden and Harris appear to have respect and perhaps even affection, for one-another. Now that we see that Harris is her own person, we can expect her to speak up. Biden is discovering, like most of us, that he has lots to learn regarding the ways that social change is unfolding and Harris can assist him.

UPDATE – Kamala Harris is Capehart’s pick .
Jonathan Capehart, Washington Post columnist, and MSNBC correspondent, made his Vice- President decision based upon various political considerations. Kamala Harris was our Dayology choice for Biden’s partner as well. And our reasoning was detailed in the Dayology blog entitled The Winning Ticket.
