Handling Hateful Remarks

Who doesn’t wish new parents the very best? Most of us see the entry of infants into this world as a blessed event. Still there are some folks who would use this wonderful occasion to insult and degrade other individuals. And that is exactly what happened last week.

U.S. Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten Buttigieg adopted twins August. To assist with the care of their newborns, Buttigieg took four weeks of paid parental leave, a benefit that most new parents appreciate. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki informed reporters “He’s at work, I was on a conference call with him this morning.” She added said, “I think what you’re getting at here is this question about whether men, parents, women should have paternity and maternity leave. And the answer is absolutely yes.”

On a previous Fox News broadcast Tucker Carlson had announced “Pete Buttigieg has been on leave from his job since August after adopting a child. Paternity leave, they call it, trying to figure out how to breastfeed. No word on how that went.” The remark was not considered funny by everyone in Carlson’s conservative audience. Actually many viewers felt it was meanspirited. Some even recognized it as homophobic. And there were those who knew that it was absolutely hypocritical because Fox News offers six weeks of paid paternal leave to all its employees.

Right after that Candace Owens, a popular Fox News political commentator, called Buttigieg “sickeningly pathetic” for taking time off during the transportation crisis. To correct the record — it is reported that Buttigieg kept in touch with the office and made a number of public appearances and statements while on leave. But no matter. The exact words voiced by Owens were “Privileged times have produced the weakest men that have ever lived in America. Remove this little boy from office. Then she tweeted with the hashtag #BringBackManlyMen.

Buttigieg promptly appeared on Deadline Whitehouse, the MSNBC afternoon show hosted by Nicolle Wallace. In a brief interview he stated “I’m not going to apologize to Tucker Carlson or anyone else for taking care of our premature newborn twins.” “As you might imagine, we are bottle feeding and doing it at all hours of the day and night,” he added. “… I guess he just doesn’t understand the concept of bottle feeding, let alone the concept of paternity leave.”

Quite effectively Pete Buttigieg referred to Candace Owens as “anyone else.” Still there really aren’t any questions about her personal positions on race and gender. POLITIFACT gives her high marks for false remarks in her books and appearances. And back in 2018 she started Blexit, an effort to get black voters to leave the Democratic Party. Sometime in the future she may consider a run a Republican office having been YouTube tested and Trump Approved.

Pete Buttigieg was born on a Tuesday in the zodiac sign of Capricorn. Mars is the ruler of his INNER Self and Saturn governs his OUTER Self. People with the #34 Signature are incredibly strong and like to see themselves as heroes in some manner. They enjoy getting big things underway and celebrate grandly when they have finally accomplished their goal.

Chasten Buttigieg was born on a FRIDAY in the zodiac sign of Cancer. Venus is the ruler of his INNER Self and the Moon governs his outer self. Individuals with the #64 FRI CAN Signature are generally in contact with their own emotions and tolerant regarding others. They desire the connections of a close family, dedicated pet ownership or any sort of social service work.

Tucker Carlson was born on a Friday in the zodiac sign of Taurus. Venus is the INNER and OUTER ruler of his Inner Self. Individuals with the #62 FRI TAU Dayology Signature usually define themselves through good looks, stability and wealth. Tucker has enjoyed wealth and often acts like an overindulged child. His viewers actually enjoy the way he taunts and teases.

Candace Owens was born on a Saturday in the zodiac sign of Taurus. Saturn is the ruler of her INNER Self and Venus governs her OUTER Self. Those with the #74 SAT TAU Dayology Signature are characteristically hard headed. They often create tough situations to test themselves. And while they should take responsibility for their actions, that just isn’t always the case.

Candace Owens

There are strong connections between these two pairs. Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens (both Taurians) tend to behave at their worst, because they are rewarded to do so. Even though Carlson is better known for his name-calling, Owens has the greater capacity to be cruel. Chasten Buttigieg as a Cancer is more likely to be hurt by nasty remarks than his Capricorn husband, but Pete Buttigieg will see to it that he always have the last word.

The Buttigieg Twins were born on SATURDAY in the zodiac sign of Virgo. Saturn rules their INNER SELVES and their OUTER SELVES are governed by Mercury. Individuals with the #78 SAT VIR Signature are serious and careful. They may be naturally a bit fussy as infants, but they are being looked after very closely by their two conscientious dads. Even though the children were delivered by a surrogate there are strong Dayology connections between family members.

The dynamics between Pete and Chasten are excellent and allow them to both nurture and protect their family now and on into the future. Their rulership oppositions MAR/VEN and CAP/CAN between their INNER and OUTER selves provide them with different sets of interests and skills to stimulate one another and maintain their marital commitments. Pete’s Capricorn Sun and Chasten’s Cancer Sun are polar opposites and create good parental roles.

UPDATE – The twins made a public appearance at the Easter 2023 White House Egg Roll. From this photo they seem to be very healthy with different male and female personalities. Their names are Penelope Rose Buttigieg and Joseph “Gus” August Buttigieg.
