A Dayology DATA SET
As crazy as it sounds books are being banned in the USA, the land of the free. Books of great substance and social value are published every day, but some of the most highly awarded books are being removed from our public school curriculums and community libraries.
ABC News reports that more than 10,000 different books were removed from school library shelves over the 2023-2024 school year. Most of these removals occurred in Florida and Iowa, but students from all over the nation are forming Banned Book Clubs to read these titles as a form of protest. MSNB host, Ali Velshi, regularly interviews featured Banned Book authors on his weekend show.
In case you didn’t know AI clearly states that controversial books broaden our perspectives, develop our empathy, encourage critical thinking, define values, help people to feel seen and heard, inspire change and stand up for the freedom of speech. Highly controversial books introduce us to highly critical areas of life of which may not be personally known to us.
Just consider the time it takes authors to write accounts of life as they see it. Their work can be banned because their content material judged to be anti-ethnic, cultural sensitive, or dealing with the issues of racism, sexism, anti-family, nudity, offensive language, abortion, substance abuse, gambling, gangs, violence, suicide, homosexuality, sexually explicit, political viewpoints, diverse religious beliefs, occult interests, or matters simply “unsuited” for certain age groups.
The following individuals have unfortunately had at least one of their published books banned. They are listed by their Dayology signatures revealing that all seven Day Rays and twelve Sun Signs are represented. This means that book banning is being applied to every aspect of our lives. It is also a signal that “critical thinking” is no longer a valued individual skill. Having our reading matter banned is a loss for everyone. And what follows this controlling effort?
