Person of the Year Again

This week Donald Trump was announced as the 2025 Person of the Year by TIME Magazine. And you are not alone if this piece of information reverberates through your mind like a deja-vu. Yes, this is the second time that the president elect has received this singular recognition.

At first becoming the Person of the Year appears to be an honor, that is until the criteria for its consideration is actually understood. The primary rule is that the individual or group considered must have exercised an impressive INFLUENCE on the past year’s events. The effect can be better or for worse. It doesn’t really matter. Actually some of the past recipients, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Ruhollah Khomeini and Vladimir Putin, were viewed as scourges of the earth. Donald Trump may not be a ruthless dictator, but just give him time. He has Project 2025.

Back in 1941 Freedom House was established in 1941 to raise support for democracy against fascist threats. They reported “that political rights and civil liberties in 2019 around the world had deteriorated to their lowest point in more than a decade. That was shortly after Trump first took office and according to this organization, he had already “mingled the concerns of his business empire with his role as president, appointed family members to his senior staff, filled other high positions with lobbyists and representatives of special interests, and refused to abide by disclosure and transparency practices observed by his predecessors.”

At the moment Trump and his “Billionaire Boys Club” have stated that they are on a clear mission to “upset” the manner in which our nation conducts its business. As to how these new directives will affect the average American cannot be ascertained but it’s a good bet that if a member of your family is not a US citizen, they may be deported in the near future. And other significant changes are in the works regarding Taxes, Tariffs and Trade, DEI, LGBTQ and Civil Rights, Education, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, Family Planning, Affordable Care Act and Health Care, and Climate and Energy. So not only has Trump had a tremendous influence during 2024, his power in 2025 will be even greater now that he was given the mandate to rule.

Sam Jacobs was born on Sunday in the zodiac sign of Aries. The ruler of his OUTER SELF is the Sun and Mars governs his INNER SELF. Those born into the #01 SUN ARI Dayology Signature are characteristically impulsive and innovative, but their intentions may not be accepted by all. Still they defend their decisions and are not inclined to back down from the positions that they take.

Such seems to be the case for Sam Jacobs, the current Editor-in-Chief of TIME Magazine, who announced the decision making Donald Trump their Person of the Year for the second time. For 97 years the editors of Time have honored individuals who, for better or worse, did the most to shape the world and appear in world headlines for that year. According to Jacobs it was Trump’s triumphant second presidential win that actually crowned him with this media tribute.

Jacobs claims that it was Trump’s unbelievable “come back” that won him this title, He says that Trump has remade American politics, which seems true. “On the cusp of his second presidency, all of us—from his most fanatical supporters to his most fervent critics—are living in the Age of Trump. He dispatched his Republican rivals in near record time. For weeks, he campaigned largely from the New York courtroom where he would be convicted on 34 felony counts. His sole debate with President Joe Biden in June led to his opponent’s eventual exit from the race. Sixteen days later, he survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally. In the sprint that followed, he outlasted Vice President Kamala Harris, sweeping all seven swing states.”

Now we watch as members of Congress, international institutions, and global leaders once again align themselves with his whims. The carousel of Trumpworld characters spins anew. This time, we think we know what to expect. Supporters cheer even his promises to take revenge on his enemies and dismantle the government. In a matter of weeks, Trump will be returning to the Oval Office with his intentions clear: tariff imports, deport millions, and threaten the press.” According to Sam Jacobs, these are the “twisted” recognitions of the TIME Magazine staff.

Yes, it’s true that Trump has dominated the political scene with his immoral and illegal choices, but his true intentions are to deconstruct the US Constitution and toss out all those who are not US citizens. Are we going to feel safe with this topsy-turvy government? Back in June of 2017 American journalist Damon Linker wrote an opinion piece in THEWEEK, entitled “The Upside Down World of Donald Trump.” At that early date Linker pegged the primary motivations of Donald Trump as sub-rational” and “self-subversive” He attempted to warn us when he stated “Really, who can be sure of anything in Trump’s America?” And that remains absolutely true!
