Normally our senses, such as sight, hearing, taste, are registered separately in our brain. Synesthetes are individuals with heightened but mixed sensitivities. They might sense that specific shapes or numbers have certain colors, or perceive hues when they hear sounds. It is not know what causes these “blendings” of the senses, but scientific research is ongoing.

Most of these individuals are artists, writers and musicians. Included also are scientists, inventors and visionaries. It is estimated that 4% of the population has this neurological trait.
In this Dayology breakdown Synesthetes show up in all 12 Sun Signs and 7 Day Rays, but there is a definite predominance of individuals born on Friday which could indicate a particular sensitivity to color prompted by a Venus ruler. Clearly it will take more examination to determine what gives the gift of Synesthetia to some and not to others, but this study provides a good start.
