Swear Her In

Adelita Grijalva’s victory in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District was never in doubt. She won the September 23 special election with nearly 70% of the vote, a decisive mandate from a district long represented by her late father, Raúl Grijalva. Yet weeks later, she remains unseated. House Speaker Mike Johnson has delayed her swearing-in, citing the government shutdown. But many Democrats believe the delay is strategic: Grijalva is expected to cast a pivotal vote on a discharge petition that would force the House to examine and potentially release long-sealed files related to Jeffrey Epstein. Her absence keeps that vote off the floor — and keeps the files sealed.

Grijalva’s election was more than a political win — it was a symbolic continuation of a legacy. Her father, Raúl, served the district for over two decades until his death earlier this year from cancer complications. Adelita, a former Pima County supervisor and longtime school board member, stepped forward not just as his daughter, but as a seasoned public servant in her own right. Her campaign emphasized education, equity, and environmental justice — themes familiar to her father’s base, but delivered with her own pragmatic tone and local grounding.

The similarities between father and daughter are unmistakable: both are Democrats with deep roots in Tucson, both have championed progressive causes, and both have built reputations for standing firm in the face of political resistance. But Adelita’s style is more measured, more administrative. Where Raúl was known for fiery speeches and national advocacy, Adelita has built her career through coalition-building and policy work at the county level. Her approach reflects a generational shift — one that values systems as much as slogans.

For now, Adelita Grijalva waits. She has stood on the House floor during pro forma sessions, watched colleagues chant “Swear her in,” and listened as Speaker Johnson swore in TWO REPUBLICAN WINNERS FROM OTHER STATES WITHOUT DELAY. Her presence is a quiet protest, a reminder that REPRESENTATION DELAYED IS REPRESENTATION DENIED. Whether through legal action or political pressure, her supporters insist she will take her seat. And when she does, it will be with the weight of legacy — and the clarity of her own voice.

Adelita Grijava was born on a Friday in the zodiac sign of Scorpio. Venus is the ruler of her Day Ray and Mars is the ruler of her Sun Sign, giving her a kind INNER nature and an intense OUTER personality. While female Libras usually have nice manners. those influenced by Mars might not be as as ladylike as you might expect. As you can see from the PHOTO ALBUM Page #68 these individuals are ready to support unpopular causes if they believe in doing so it will make some difference in our lives. Adelita has consistently championed progressive, community-focused issues throughout her career. Her s election win was driven by a powerful combination of legacy, local credibility, and timing in an Arizona district that deeply values continuity and community.

Raul Grijalvia was born on a Thursday in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Jupiter is the ruler of his Day Ray and his Aquarius Sun Sign is ruled by Saturn or Uranus. His INNER nature is generous and philosophical but his OUTER personality is somewhat unconventional. This combination of energies makes for unusual people, regardless of wherever they are found. Grijalvia was a progressive voice in a state that often leaned conservative. For 22 years Grijalvia advocated for humane immigration reform and was a vocal critic of harsh enforcement tactics. He pushed strongly for environmental justice, immigration reform, and indigenous rights — pertinent issues that sometimes put him at odds with both Republicans and moderate Democrats.

In this example we are adding THE NEXT STEP to our Dayology analysis. This new feature takes Dayology beyond the basic analysis of simply the Day Ray and Sun Sign and employs specific techniques of traditional Astrology. Here we are comparing the MODES of these two Dayology signatures. This father and daughter were born in zodiac signs of the FIXED MODE. He is an Aquarius (FIXED AIR) and she is a Scorpio (FIXED WATER). They are extremely close and both are involved with politics. He dealt more with matters of freedom and she is now concerned with rights, not just hers as a congresswoman but all those which she represents. This use of THE NEXT STEP shows that Dayology can work adequately on its own, but important insights can be discovered by looking to the many important principles of traditional astrology.
