The Chart of Vladimir Putin

The first glance of Putin’s natal chart tells the whole story. The four angles (black lines) of his personality are composed of the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. Angles of this sort indicate individuals of some evolvement and an intensely fixed temperament. These folks are not inclined to make changes unless force is involved and then it’s a really big deal!

In the Guide to Horoscope Interpretation, Mark Edmund Jones views charts like this as a Locomotive Type. The energy pattern occupies two-thirds of the chart filled with one-third empty space. Once this sort of person gets started it is very hard for them to stop. They seem to become prompted more by their external surroundings than by their own character.

Hemispherically this chart has a 7th through 12th house orientation. Eight out of ten of the planets are located at the top portion of the circle indicating that this individual has a definite preference to be known as a public figure. Generally little is known about his personal life or childhood background and Putin himself is absolutely okay about this lack of definition.

The Ascendant (AC) is Scorpio and ruled by Mars and/or Pluto. Putin’s forceful identity is made stronger by the fact that a Tuesday birth brings experiences of an aggressive or transformative nature. He was meant to be an assertive person but actually how strong is to be keep secret. His relationships are complicated by Venus in Scorpio and ruling Taurus on the Descendant (DC). Either he cannot, or chooses to not express his feelings to the satisfaction of even himself.

Jupiter in Taurus is firm where foundational beliefs are concerned. This planet is placed in the Seventh house of relationships and equidistant from both Nodes making his personal growth difficult. Substantial blocks come from equally firm associates, partners and enemies. Because Jupiter is moving in an apparent retrograde fashion, a continual reexamination of concepts and practices is needed. The subject needs to reconsider beliefs that he may have held in past.

The last feature of this chart that must be considered is a stellium in the Twelfth House. This mass of energies is thought by many astrologers to be karmic, meaning a reaping the reward or requiring the settlement of deeds of the past. In this case Putin has three hidden planets, Saturn, Neptune and Mercury. This indicates an inclination to be severe, to obsess and fantasize. He not only has the ability to twist the truth, he may be viewing things in an unrealistic manner.

Putin’s archetypal role in our planetary drama is indicated by the two sides of his personal self, the Sun and Moon, being very disconnected in this chart. Both luminaries, Sun in Libra and Moon in Gemini, are of the Airy quality and operating in a quintile aspect. So again we find a thinker with untapped sensitivity and a high level of frustrated creativity. Not only is this a sad state of affairs for everyone around him in Russia but possibly for all human life on this planet.

Dayology points out that the Mars Day Ray of Putin is found in the Second House and in Sagittarius, which means that he sees life as an adventure and everything in this world as a resource. Venus, the ruler of his Libra Sun Sign or Outer Self is located in the First House and Scorpio. This indicates that he wants to be liked but only on his own terms. Dayology Signature #31 is deeply karmic and does not allow Mars to function without friction among others.
