All around the world people are taking to the streets. They are protesting the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and it’s future implications for all the democracies. At first it was difficult to believe that Russia would dispatch the personnel and equipment that it had massed on the Ukraine border. Even the Ukraine people hoped that their past cultural bonds with Russia would protect them.
The invasion of Ukraine began on Monday, February 21. 2022 with cyberattacks on the capitol of Kiev and proceeded with airstrike damage. It caused civilian migrations reminiscent of old World War II images. The difference is that this conflict is happening right in front of us on our phones and television sets. Every aspect of the event is being explained to us by reliable journalists and extraordinary historians. And nearly everyone thinks this situation is wrong.
Today President Vladimir Putin ordered that Russian nuclear forces put on high alert in response to what he calls “aggressive statements” by leading NATO powers. A week ago he announced to the world that “Whoever tries to hinder us, and even more so, to create threats to our country, to our people, should know that Russia’s response will be immediate.” He also warned the outside interfering countries “that any attempt to interfere with the Russian action would lead to “consequences they have never seen.” Does he intend nuclear warfare?
Also a week ago Putin promised that the servicemen of the Ukrainian army who put down their weapons would be allowed to freely leave the combat zone. To everyone’s surprise, and despite the high casualties, the Ukraine resistance has actually slowed down the Russia’s advance on Kiev. Credit goes to the nations who are helping arm Ukraine and providing humanitarian aid. President Volodymyr Zelensky, rejected the U.S. offer of evacuation from saying “I need ammunition, not a ride” deserves recognition too. He is now Russia’s #1 target.
It cannot be foreseen at this time how things will go in Ukraine and its four border states, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia. The Council for Foreign Relations believes that this move is a miscalculation of Vladimir Putin and can only be remedied by democracies of the world banding together. U.S. President Joe Biden stated, “Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable.”

The leading figures in this situation have been considered individually in two previous features Those in the Middle – February 1, 2022 and Biden and Putin – June 21, 2021. These three Presidents are intimately involved in the ongoing struggle for the survival of Ukraine.
The personalities of these three individuals are composed of three different Day Rays and Sun Signs. There is little in their backgrounds with which they can identify. Biden and Putin, have a mutual reception of planetary energies, which was pointed out previously, and locks the two men into a tight relationship, either for better or worse. The president of Ukraine is a “horse of another color.” Zelensky has either been underestimated in his political concern for his country or he is a quick study regarding his civic role as president, or possibly both. Zelensky has the perfect makings of an aspiring Aquarian revolutionary, which is idealistic and innovative.
From here we will consider the means by which these three individuals interact using the Elements and the Modalities of Classic Astrology. This ancient method of analysis should give us a good idea as to the motivation that prompted these world figures up to this time and on into the future. There are two major patterns in this grouping.
First: The Sun Signs of Putin and Zelensky are both of the Air Element, meaning that these two spend a lot of time “in their heads.” They make their decisions based on thought which is shaped by their strongest belief systems. Biden’s prevailing nature is more emotional having a Sun Sign of the Water Element. He is a crusader looking for a sort of satisfaction, which as a Scorpio, could be grand and liberating for all, but can also be small and petty, if he doesn’t keep a lid on it.
Second: The Sun Signs of Biden and Zelensky are both of the Fixed Modality, showing that both take adamant positions which they are inclined to hold forever or only change under tremendous pressure. Putin’s Sun Sign reflects the Cardinal Modality. He operates in an active manner that dies trying to achieve specific aims or shoots for even greater goals if ever the current ambitions are achieved. Putin, as a Libra, learns about himself through relationships. Currently he reigns over an Oligarchy and the role that he holds with the people of his nation is very discouraging. Now that he has absolute power in his world, he could work on making the future better, but instead he only thinks of regaining the glories of the past to enhance his own reputation.
